The Western Fremont Historical Society is dedicated to researching, educating, and promoting the rich history of Western Fremont County, Colorado. As a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, we are committed to preserving the area's cultural and historical legacy for generations to come.

Step Back in Time with WFHS. Join Western Fremont Historical Society for “A Look Back Into

History” on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at the Cotopaxi-Mullins History

Center (Plum St. & CR12, Cotopaxi). Enjoy free admission, light refreshments, and a relaxed

come-and-go format.


Discover the early days of Texas Creek—its families, businesses, railroads, mining, and ranching

roots. View Basil Carpenter’s “The Life of a Rancher in Poetry & Pictures” and explore new

artifacts. Connect with our Historian and help to preserve local history by sharing your own

memories and photos.

Hours

The Cotopaxi-Mullins Center is open during Society activities and by appointment and each Wednesday afternoon from 1-3:00pm and the 2nd Sunday of each month from 1-3:00pm AND whenever the "OPEN" sign is on.


The Howard History Center is open during Society activities  and by appointment.  During the months of April through October, the center is open the last Sunday of each month (1:00-3:00 p.m.)
